Acer's entry-level PC at Rs. 9999

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Acer has revised the price of its entry-level desktop, the EL-1600. The PC will now be available for Rs. 9,999 (excluding monitor) across the country with immediate effect. Based on Intel single-core processor Atom processor 230, the Nettop when compared to the conventional desktop computers is smaller, lighter and immensely affordable, all this while consuming just one-third the power of a conventional desktop.

"The EL 1600 heralds the arrival of a much-needed computing solution that appeals to the larger audience with an astute combination of pricing and specs," said S Rajendran, chief marketing officer, Acer India. "We are confident that with the revision of prices, the EL 1600 will make a significant dent on the Indian PC market. Consumers can now for the first time get a no compromise MNC standard and quality tested desktop for under Rs 10,000 in the Indian market."

"Today our country has a PC penetration rate of just over three percent. We believe that this offering will significantly help grow the overall market for PCs in India by offering the entry level PC user a no compromise, full fledged performance machine at a previously unimaginable price," he added.

The EL1600 includes Intel Atom 230 CPU, SATA Serial Hard disk of up to 160 gigabytes, 1024 MB RAM Memory installed, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 and up to eight USB ports.
