A little while ago we had got reports of an apparent Sony Ericsson handset that was called the Jalou that was supposed to be a touchscreen handset featuring a Symbian S60 5th edition OS. However just today Sony Ericsson has dispersed with that with the announcement of a new fashion flip/clamshell handset called the Jalou. The image showcased may have been wrong but at least we know that the handset exists and Sony Ericsson's latest style statement is only 73mm long.
“Structured forms, intricate corners, hidden depths and jewel accents are set to be some of the hottest fashion trends in 2010. You can also expect to see deep and natural jewel colors on the runway next year. Jalou reflects these trends with its delicate facet-cut diamond shape design, clean and expressive lines and variety of different shine and matt finishes, that give depth to the handset,” comments Charles Hunt, Jalou head designer at Sony Ericsson. “The design team wanted the handset to reflect beauty found in nature. They looked at structure, strength and form in various crystalline jewels, which resulted in the unique shape.”
The clamshell Jalou handset features -
a 2 inch TFT LCD with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution with an external display monochrome display
EDGE/GPRS
Bluetooth with A2DP, PlayNow and TrackID
Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
3.2 megapixel camera with geotagging and Photo Fix
Stereo FM radio
Mirror Key
Google apps with Search, Maps, Email
A YouTube application, 3D games, Motion Gaming
MicroSD card support
“The new Jalou phone is all about looking great and sharing the good life,” said Linda Schori, Marketing Business Manager at Sony Ericsson. “We wanted to create a beautiful handset without compromising on style or content. It’s perfect for anyone who is sociable, loves fashion and wants to stay one step ahead of trends, because it has a fashion forward design you will want to show off. And, for such a compact handset, it has an immense amount of detail both inside and out.”
Dolce & Gabbana has also got a special limited edition version of the handset that comes with exclusive packaging and accessories that include three silky rose satin bags to either protect the phone, store the charger, or to even carry jewellery and a special Dolce & Gabbana branded headset with gold accents to keep you connected in style.
The handset also has an exclusive fashion interface which automatically updates with zodiac signs and special events throughout the year. Jalou will be available by Sony Ericsson, in Q4 of 2009 in a variety of gem inspired colors including: Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue and Onyx Black.
